Some one described today as a crazy, mad race to no where in particular. That’s not too far from the truth. We started the day with an unexpected and un-seasonal pouring rain that continued as we went from the hotel to breakfast, to the school, and to our work sites. All three sites got a slow start, as we all hunkered inside to avoid the rain. Once the work started, it was a mad dash to catch up.  We had a quick lunch break for pizza (everyone was thrilled) and then it was back at it.  For some, the time to quit didn’t come soon enough because they are really starting to feel the aches that come with a week of hard work. For others, it came far too quickly, as we see all the work that still needs done.

Those who were participating in the baseball/softball ministry took off and the rest of us kept working as hard and as quickly as we could.  All the groups worked well past our quitting time and while some people went back to get ready for dinner, some combined efforts to finish up as many projects as we could and gather all the tools and equipment.  Ever painted or cut wallboard by the light of a cell phone? Some of our team members now can say they have!  (We’ll see how successful they were tomorrow in the light of day!)

Once we wrapped up our work sites for the day, those of us that hadn’t showered did another mad dash through the showers to go eat dinner.  We finally had a chance to slow down a bit as we sat together by the sea and had a moment to worship and reflect as a group.  Sharing our impressions and thoughts of the trip so far was a nice way to wrap up another long, but successful day in Belize. Now, we just pray that we can get all the remaining work done tomorrow.  It seems to be multiplying faster than fish and loaves around here!
